Otunba RAFIU AKINPELU OLAORE SPEECH AT THE WORKSHOP ON DIGITAL FASHION DESIGN ORGANISED BY YOUTHS ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT & INNOVATION SOCIETY (YEDIS).

SATURDAY 10TH OF JULY, 2021.

The YEDIS members and distinguished Guests

Youths Enterprise Development and Innovation Society (YEDIS) is a nonprofit organization that builds entrepreneurial attitudes among young ones. We have put smiles on some young people’s faces for the past few years by conducting free training, business development services, financial support, mentoring, networking, and regular entrepreneurial orientations.

As an active member of the United Nations Global Compact and member of CIVICUS, our organization contributes to the UNs Sustainable Development Goals 2030, most especially in eradicating poverty, gender equality, and industrialization.

The world suffers from the Covid19 pandemic since 2020, and it has crippled most businesses worldwide.

With the effect of COVID19, most companies have gone digital because of the reduction in physical contact. The development has made the virtual/online approach very significant.

Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, and to cushion its effect, today, 10th of July 2021, we organized a free workshop on Digital fashion design. We distributed 150 tailoring tools (scissors, tape rule, and few mini accessories to 150 girls tailoring learners in Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria.

The above little impact was made within the YEDIS financial capability. Thus, we will continue to provide better services as long as we get support from the individual, public, corporate organization, and the Government.

The purpose of NGOs is to support society. The Government cannot provide everything we need, so the NGO will fill some gaps to give a better life for the underprivileged people and disadvantaged communities.

Concerning our significant impacts, 1000 notebooks were distributed in 2020 by YEDIS to the 200 pupils in Nawardeen primary school, Ikirun, Osun State, Nigeria, to celebrate World Literacy Day. Free cash gifts to five “Youth in Business,” free business plans development, creative ideas seminars, and many other youth empowerment programs accomplished.

The organization’s success is being made possible through the voluntary financial contributions of some YEDIS members, friends, family, and other stakeholders. In addition, the organization benefits from online tools grant from google.orgmicrosoft.com, and other moral supports from different corporate organizations.

We record a significant increment in membership registration, and as of today, our membership is more than one thousand across the globe, with a higher percentage from Nigeria. For those that want to join the society, the membership is free, and the form is available at the website, www.yedis.org.

I want to appreciate the YEDIS project and the technical team head by Entrepreneurship Education professionals Mr. Ranti Ogunrinade and Mr. Ola Timothy Olalekan for their selfless and unrelenting services. More so, the effort of YEDIS tertiary education students’ wing coordinators is always commendable.

To our distinguished guests and trainees, we appreciate you.

Thank you all.
