Entrepreneurship, Digital Skills, and Healthcare Workshop for Advancing Youth Education and Decent Employment.

Youth Enterprise Development & Innovation Society (YEDIS) is a nonprofit organization that promotes entrepreneurship education, youth employment, and underserved community development.  

YEDIS, in collaboration with Olaseffy Variety Stores, organized a workshop on entrepreneurship, digital skills, and healthcare services to advance quality education and employment for young people between the ages of fourteen (14) and twenty (20), comprising (31) girls and (25) boys. The program was held on 12th May 2023 from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm at Wisdom Tutorial College, 196 Sabo Road, Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria. 

The speakers include Mrs Oluwakemi Oyeniyi from the health department, Obokun Local Government, Osun State Nigeria, Mr Ranti Ogunrinade, YEDIS program coordinator, and Mr Ola Timothy, YEDIS project coordinator. 

Mr Ranti Ogunrinade delivered a lecture on entrepreneurship education and digital skills and their significance to quality education, decent employment and economic development. After his presentation, Mr Ogunrinade divided the participants into six groups and assigned each group to generate creative ideas, learn to work as a team and submit proposals for assessment.  

Mr Ola Timothy emphasizes the fundamentals of digital marketing to advance youth employment. He reiterated that young people should use their social media technological skills for entrepreneurial purposes. According to Mr Ola Timothy, many applications on computers and Android phones are available to improve youth education and entrepreneurship skills, such as Excel, Microsoft Office, Adobe, grammar checkers, google my business, canvas, facebook and so on.

In her lecture, Mrs Oyeniyi admonished the youth to shun alcohol and illegal drugs and cultivate healthy lifestyles through cleanliness, healthy foods, regular exercise, engaging in intelligent work, and moderate rest. She stated that healthy entrepreneurs will always be productive. 

YEDIS Executive Director Mr Rafiu Akinpelu Olaore enjoins the participants and youth to seek mentoring, teamwork, and social volunteering to develop their entrepreneurial and leadership skills. Mr Olaore emphasized that the girls should use the workshop to evolve themselves as part of the YEDIS effort to promote quality education, gender equality, and decent jobs. 

The owner of Wisdom Tutorial College, Mr Razak Alimi lauded the YEDIS Executive Director and the speakers for impactful presentations and fruitful workshops; he advised the participants to apply the skills productively.
