The Youths Enterprise Development and Innovation Society (YEDIS) organized a one-day seminar program to commemorate the celebration of 2023 International Youth Day on Sunday, 13th August 2023, among the teeming youths of Iragberi community in Egbedore Local Government Area, Osun State, Nigeria.
YEDIS coordinators delivered lectures following the 2023 International Youth Day celebration theme, “Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World. While delivering her lecture, Mrs Alaje Grace Oluwatosin admonished youths present to explore the opportunity that green skills knowledge can avail them towards actualizing their lofty youthful objectives. In his lecture titled” Importance of Agriculture to Transforming the Economy”, Mr Ola Timothy posited that Agriculture remains the bedrock for sustaining a Nation’s economy, a source of job creation for the youth and food provision for the sustainability of the human race. He concluded that youths should avail themselves of the immense benefits therein in the practice of agriculture through Green Skills Knowledge.
In another speech titled “Entrepreneurship Education Training: A Necessity for Green Technology for the Creation of Job for the Teeming Youths”, Mr Ogunrinade emphasized that the invention of Green Technology has brought remarkable change to the modus operandi in all facets of life, especially in the entrepreneurial practices. He opined that Green Technology Skills in the course of Entrepreneurship will drastically reduce unemployment in marginalized communities.
The participants shared their opinions on the green skills and climate challenges and called for the interventions of the Government, private organizations and civil society organizations for sustainable development. YEDIS team at the event includes Miss Waliyat Oyerinde, technical staff and Miss Rafiat A, Olaore, YEDIS general secretary.Â
Accordingly, the YEDIS team, led by Mrs Sulat Iyabo Usman (YEDIS Zonal Coordinator in Abuja) participated at the International Youth Day 2023 organized by NGYouthSDGs and Oxfam Nigeria on 10th August 2023 in Abuja, Nigeria.Â
