Barriers to accessing equal economic opportunities and employment for women and youth

Due to nepotism, loyalty, and sentiments, professionalism is less considered in some organizations’ appointments and implementation of youth and women’s jobs policies. Whereas productivity only comes from professionalism because a person cannot give what he does not have.

Employment policies and expertise should be the priority, no matter the relationship and the employee’s gender.

Moreover, some job activities (construction, driving, loading, time and energy-based, among others) are believed to be the men’s responsibilities based on their strength, compared to women. Even some women prefer soft skills to hard or stressful ones.

In addition, some people’s perception is that “if you give a woman a chance, she will take chances.” Another belief is that women are soft-minded, so they may find it difficult to act on tough decisions.

Objectively, there will be few gaps base on the jobs category.

By and large, the youth and women should get quality education and skills that will make them fit for the right job and position of authority.
