YEDIS Hosted Official Session of The World Bank CSPF

On October 15, 2025, a momentous event unfolded in the World Bank Group headquarters in Washington, DC, as the Youths Enterprise Development and Innovation Society (YEDIS) proudly hosted the official session of the World Bank Group Civil Society Policy Forum. This exciting gathering brought together a diverse array of passionate leaders and visionaries dedicated to transforming Africa through sustainable growth.

Titled “Advancing Homegrown Economy through Sustainable Infrastructure and Skills Development in Africa,” the session was a dynamic platform led by the inspiring Chief Rafiu Akinpelu Olaore, the Executive Director of YEDIS. The panel boasted an exceptional lineup of experts who shared invaluable insights. Among them were Mrs. Oluseye Olutimayin Adebiyi, Director of Policy and Programmes for Nigeria’s Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion; H. E. Nyakan June, the pioneering Global CEO of Timeless Women of Wonder Africa from Kenya; Barrister Aisha Hamman, Executive Director of Lift Africa Foundation in Nigeria; Mr. Osman Mubarik Abu, Executive Director of Tudu Center for Leadership and Development in Ghana; and Dr. Estelle Koussoubé, a Senior Economist at The World Bank, known for her expertise in Adolescent Girls’ Empowerment and Youth Employment.

With over 150 eager participants, the event underscored the urgent need for localised strategies to drive meaningful job creation and foster robust economic growth across Africa. Chief Olaore captivated the audience with a stirring address that resonated deeply. He passionately emphasised the importance of developing tailored solutions that meet the unique needs of local communities. He highlighted exciting prospects such as e-trade, boosting digital skills, and nurturing entrepreneurial talent. By cultivating a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship, African nations can harness their abundant natural resources and pave the way for inclusive economic advancement.

This inspiring session sent a powerful message: through collaboration and a shared vision, Africa is on the brink of building a brighter, more prosperous future for its youth and generations. The energy in the room was palpable, igniting hope and commitment among all present to take action towards this transformative journey.

Other speakers share perspectives about their organisations’ impact on infrastructure and skills development. They narrate practical solutions that include individuals’ efforts to support government policies on development, especially regarding quality education, digital innovation, gender inclusivity, and exploration of local resources for job creation and economic growth.

The Session Panellists captivated the audience with their insights into how their organisations are shaping the future of infrastructure and skills development, as well as their country-specific policies. They presented innovative solutions that underscore individuals’ vital role in advancing government policies geared towards progress. The focus areas included quality education, digital innovation, gender inclusivity, and leveraging local resources to spur job creation and economic growth.

One standout participant voice was Dr Jacob Agboola, who passionately advocated for a comprehensive education curriculum review. He argued that it should be updated to address today’s pressing global challenges, ensuring that future generations are well-prepared to thrive. This dynamic gathering sparked transformative discussions and fostered meaningful partnerships among participants, united in their mission to promote these essential initiatives.
