Train-the-Trainers Workshop and Reception for YEDIS Volunteers and Staff

On 23 November 2024, the Youth Enterprise Development and Innovation Society (YEDIS) convened a Train-the-Trainers workshop and reception for its volunteers and staff in Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria. Mr. Rafiu Olaore, the Founder and Executive Director of YEDIS, facilitated the workshop. Mr. Olaore recently participated as a panelist, speaker, and delegate in several international forums, including the World Trade Organization Public Forum in Geneva, Switzerland, the One Young World Summit in Montreal, Canada, the United Nations Summit of the Future and General Assembly in New York, and the World Bank Group and International Monetary Fund Annual Meeting and Civil Society Policy Forum in Washington, D.C., USA. He shared his extensive insights from these global conferences with the YEDIS team and imparted critical skills for their mission.

Key topics addressed by Mr. Olaore included Climate Change Mitigation, Disaster Risk Reduction and Early Warning Prevention, Green Digital Transition, Gender Parity, and the Role of Civil Society Organizations in Community Development. The team engaged in constructive discussions regarding preparations for YEDIS’s upcoming training and empowerment initiatives scheduled for 2024 and 2025 while actively seeking partnerships to promote inclusive development.

Mr. Rafiu Olaore expressed his profound gratitude to the ten YEDIS volunteers and staff in attendance and those unable to join. He particularly acknowledged the contributions of YEDIS coordinators both in Nigeria and abroad, alongside the organization’s partners. The participants reaffirmed their commitment and unwavering support for YEDIS’s objectives and humanitarian initiatives. Attendees included Mrs. Mary Adebayo, Mr. Abass Opeyemi, Miss Alimah Olaore, Miss Waliyat Oyerinde, Mr. Sesan Odediran, Mrs. Grace Alaje, Miss Kabirah Olaore, Mr. Waheed Adeoye, Miss Kareemah Olaore, and Mr. Taiwo Abdulahi Oladele.

In his remarks, Mr. Abass Opeyemi expressed appreciation for Mr. Olaore’s relentless efforts to enhance youth employment opportunities and foster community development. Mr. Oladele and Mrs. Adebayo acknowledged the significance of the upskilling seminar and advocated for increased partnership opportunities to promote resilient and inclusive growth.

Concerning gender parity, Miss Kabirah Olaore urged public and international organizations, as well as governmental entities, to augment their investments in the education of women and girls and to ensure the provision of meaningful employment opportunities, thereby ensuring that no one is left behind. In the context of sustainable development, Mrs. Alaje called for financial and moral support to empower YEDIS to execute its humanitarian and community development services.
