On August 3, 2025, the management team of the Youths Enterprise Development and Innovation Society (YEDIS) at its headquarters in Osogbo, Nigeria, received a training session focused on social action and leadership.
Mr. Rafiu Olaore, the Executive Director of YEDIS, led the session. The training emphasised the importance of social services in community development and volunteers’ roles, while highlighting the necessity of developing leadership skills to enhance managerial capabilities. During the meeting, Mr. Olaore encouraged participants to continuously acquire digital competencies, engage in volunteer initiatives that benefit the community, and actively promote innovative and developmental ideas through social media platforms. He elaborated on YEDIS’s objectives, which include promoting youth employment opportunities, advancing gender equality, fostering community development, and creating a sustainable business environment. Mr. Olaore also underscored the organisation’s significant achievements, notably its attainment of the 2025 Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), and its meaningful contributions to societal and humanitarian efforts within the community. Furthermore, he informed attendees about YEDIS’s upcoming empowerment initiatives, aimed at supporting over 3,000 vulnerable individuals, including youth and women in agribusiness, across five rural communities in Osun State, Nigeria, between October and December 2025. He advised the YEDIS team to seek financial support from their associates and affluent individuals within their communities to facilitate these humanitarian services.
