He addressed procurement officers in Osun State, Nigeria, at the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management of Nigeria (CIPSMN) Osun State Chapter 2024 Annual Conference on 15 – 16 May 2024 at Osun State Government Secretariat, Commission hall, Osogbo, Nigeria.

Conference Flier

Olaore referred to the CIPSMN slogan, “value for money,” and advised the procurement officers to be cost-effective in their procurement practices, emphasizing a reduction in packaging materials and the repurposing of items to reduce waste and avoid plastic pollution.

Plastic pollution

He further advised the procurement officers to find means of recycling waste items, including scraps, and to either dispose of idle items, revitalize them, or auction them to those in need at the right time to maintain a clean environment, avoid plastic pollution, and address climate challenges. Olaore emphasized that procurement officers have major roles to play in organizations to eliminate waste, reduce plastic pollution, and maintain a clean environment through effective control of packaging materials, supply chain management, storage, transportation, distribution, and buying methods.
