AI, Digital Tech, & Tax Law: A Career Building Training for Osun Procurement Officers

On February 19, 2026, Mr. Rafiu Olaore presided over a career development workshop organized by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management of Nigeria (CIPSMN), Osun State chapter, in collaboration with the Youths Enterprise Development and Innovation Society (YEDIS). The event took place at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Hall in Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria.

The program drew over 100 participants, including procurement officers and directors from 30 local governments in Osun, along with representatives from private companies, NGOs, universities, and polytechnics across the state.

The first session, presented by the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), provided an overview of Nigerian Tax Law. A team of five Osun NRS staff explained how tax law impacts small and large enterprises, government officials, NGOs, and individual taxpayers. Topics covered included tax preparation, obtaining a tax identification number, and securing tax certificates. The session ended with an engaging Q&A segment.

The following session, facilitated by YEDIS and moderated by Mr. Rafiu Olaore, Chair of CIPSMN, Osun State and YEDIS executive director, focused on integrating artificial intelligence and digital technologies into professional settings. Mr. Rafiu highlighted AI’s role in creating jobs, developing skills, and supporting sustainable growth. He emphasized the importance of critical thinking to enhance decision-making amid AI advancements. Attendees were divided into ten groups to deepen their understanding of AI, digital innovation, and emerging solutions to workplace and societal challenges. Mr. Opeyemi Adeoye, YEDIS IT specialist, shared strategies for leveraging social media. Participants discussed the advantages and obstacles associated with platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, YouTube, and WhatsApp, underscoring their relevance.

Mrs. Olaniyan Dorcas, former Chairperson of CIPSMN Osun State and board member of the Osun State Bureau of Public Procurement, commended Rafiu Olaore for his leadership and exemplary performance as CIPSMN chairman.

Additionally, Mr. Oyetunde Ayobami, Executive Secretary of the Osun State Bureau for People with Disabilities and CIPSMN member, acknowledged Olaore’s active engagement with members and his efforts in organizing capacity-building training programs for procurement officers across the state.

Rafiu Olaore expressed gratitude to the CIPSMN National President, Mr. Sikiru O. Balogun, CIPSMN, Osun State members, and Osun State Executive Officers for trusting him with the responsibility to lead the organization and for successfully carrying out the program. He also thanked YEDIS representatives present, including Mrs. Mary Adebayo, Mr. Opeyemi Adeoye, Ms. Kabirah Olaore, Mrs. Oyeniyi Oluwakemi, Mr. Baruwa Mohammed (Osun State CIPSMN Secretary), Mrs. Ayeni Dunmade, and Ms. Karimah Olaore.
