Promoting Entrepreneurship Education, Youth Employment, Gender Equality, and Community Development.
The “Youths Enterprise Development and Innovation Society (YEDIS)” is a grassroots youth-serving Non-Governmental Organisation in Nigeria. YEDIS promotes entrepreneurship education, youth employment, gender equality, and sustainable community development. It introduces the youth to enterprises, encourages innovation, and inspires underserved young people to pursue their entrepreneurial ambitions and develop the required business skills for the economy, peace, and prosperity.
By partnering with relevant stakeholders for collaboration and sponsorship, YEDIS promotes local business initiatives through entrepreneurship education, digital literacy skills, empowerment, mentoring, capacity-building, and skills acquisition training for poverty reduction, zero hunger, quality education, gender equality, and economic development. YEDIS encourages decent work, provides a range of services and events designed to help marginalized youth develop new ideas, find support to make them realistic, set up their enterprises, have exposure to various sources of finances, and provide them with insights into the world of work.
YEDIS primarily operates in underserved communities where there is a lack of quality education and decent jobs due to poor awareness, inadequate educational facilities, and primitive agricultural sources of livelihood, chiefly among girls and young women. YEDIS collaborates with various stakeholders, including academic institutions, private organizations, community leaders, trade associations, student unions, and youth clubs, to advocate for multiple causes such as food security, transformation of food systems, disaster risk reduction, climate change mitigation, and environmental protection. YEDIS is committed to promoting a comprehensive and inclusive approach to creating resilient, sustainable, peaceful, and healthy cities.
